The following video would fit perfectly into the group of videos on my motivational videos page, but I decided to dedicate a new blog entry to it because I think it's important to tell the story behind this video in order to get its powerful message. It was made for a Belgian TV documentary series about Lukaku called De School Van Lukaku when he visited London and English Premier League side Chelsea Football Club in the scope of a school trip to England two years ago.
It's great to see how this young man is totally amazed being at the home ground of his favourite football club because he can literally see his future as a football player. His teacher tells him that all this is just a dream and he better should stop dreaming and move on, but Lukaku believes in himself and his ability to succeed. "Dreaming? I'm not dreaming. I'm going to play here, I'm sure." And he was right. Lukaku should prove his teacher wrong because this month he actually realized his dream by joining Chelsea for a transfer fee of some 22 million €.
Is it gratification to have proved your doubters wrong or is it just pure happiness to be where you have wanted to be for such a long time? I can only speak for myself, but I'm pretty sure that we all have met people like Lukaku's teacher. Other people will always question you if you have exceptional goals and dare to express these goals publicly. However, it's important not to be distracted from your goals and desires if you encounter doubt or even opposition because our reality is not what others tell us it has to be, but only what we want it to be. And in the end, commitment and hard work will always yield their reward.
